Session 1: The Merchant's Daughter

The 13th of Highsun
Day 1
As the group was finishing up reviewing applications, the Elf Rogue, Laurentius, the Elf Wizard, Arnold, the Elven Cleric, Lirlin, and the DM, the former Dark Elf Rogue, Bryn, set out at the request to rescue the daughter of a local Rugtia merchant. As some quick background, Rugtia has been built into a major trading city due to its extreme marketing and manufacturing of luxuriant rugs, drapes, and other textiles.
The daughter, who suffered from a slight mental handicap, thinking that she was a bird at times, had been snatched up by some Kobolds, and was allegedly being held in a cave not far away. Our brave crew set off to rescue this innocent soul, hoping an praying that they weren't too late. Well, they didn't have to hope or pray too hard, when they got to the entrance of the cave they could hear a mix of squawking, screeching, and cawing, all made by the same voice as far as they could tell.
They rushed inside and fought their way through against resistance, in a room filled with piles of stolen articles, the Kobolds inside were in agony from the noises that the young lady was making. Flapping her arms, she zoomed around the room, only pausing to hyperventilate for a moment or two.
Laurentius' first instinct was to search for any useful loot amungst the junk piled high throughout the room. After a couple minutes of vigorous searching, and many rugs to decide upon, he found something that may be of great use: a Bag of Devouring. Nothing else major was found amungst the junk, so they turned their attention back to the Kobolds, most of which were covering their ears, trying to drown out the sounds emanating from the girl.
Arnold used one of his Animate Rope spells to bind the mass of Kobolds in the room into one large prisoner. And as one got just too roudy for him, he gut it in front of the others with his knife, shutting him up and any others who were currently making a ruckus. Laurentius could not stand more killing like this, especially in front of the merchant's precious daughter. Instead, he commanded to the Kobolds to obey him, stating that he was their god and he could save them from this monstrosity if they were to follow his ways. The approximately fifteen to twenty Kobolds, eager to stop their torment, quickly agreed to his terms. The first one that bowed down to Laurentius as his Higher Being once Arnold released the rope was the one that Laurentius accepted as his own. "I think I'll call him Gerald," he exclaimed as Arnold bound the daughter of the merchant in a rug and his rope. Just as they began their departure with their new congregation, a voice boomed from above.
"I am Thor, and you have disrespected my being with your foolhearty cult in the presence of one of my worshippers. I denounce you as an enemy of my own, and will use you as an example if I see fit to do so. Do not cross my path again, or it will be your last mockery of me!" At that, a bolt of electricity shot down from the ceiling of the cave and traveled down to the floor right in front of Laurentius' face. After a minute of heart palpitations, the group exited the cave, stepping over those they had vanquished, their group of Kobolds following behind them.
They returned to Rugtia without further incident, and the merchant rewarded the group with 500 gold pieces for the return of his beloved daughter (though Laurentius really pocketed it and still has it). In addition to the money, the merchant told them of a fabled island, not too far off from Rugtia, whom only the worthy may venture. It was said to be filled with treasure and riches, but he had no interest in such a place, with the state his daughter ended up in from chasing the last fairy-tale he had heard.
And with that, the first day of adventuring came to an end. With a new Bag of Devouring in hand, another 500 gold richer, information to more wealth, and 18 Kobolds ready to serve, it had been the first step to greatness for these level one newbs...
